Residents scramble for last-minute Valentine's Day gifts

If you forgot to get your significant other something, you can always go through your Mardi Gras throws.

Ask any florists and they'll tell you Febuary 14th is a big day for business, but when Valentine's Day and the end of the Mardi Gras season collide, you get hit with last minute orders.

"The phone has been ringing off the wire," Nancy Segers with Tommy's Flowers said.

It's safe to say some people might have been a little distracted these last few days and might have forgotten about their partner.

"They woke up today and discovered it's Valentine's Day," Segers explained.

At Tommy's Flowers, employees have been working non-stop to fill last minute orders and get those out for delivery. Plus, instead of having multiple days to deliver flowers, Jason Cummings got one day thanks to Mardi Gras parades, which made navigating the city impossible.

"So it's just like a one-day event, it's gotta be all done today," Cummings said.

Customers have been understanding about the day of dropoffs.

Although the city might be suffering from a collective hangover, Mardi Gras or not ,folks are still finding a way to get their last minute Valentine's Day orders in. If you forgot to get your significant other something, you can always go through your Mardi Gras throws.
