Police: Tulane student and friend sexually assaulted by group

The Tulane Police Department and the New Orleans Police Department are investigating the incident.

NEW ORLEANS – Police are investigating a report of an alleged sexual assault of a Tulane student and her friend.

The incident occurred early Sunday morning in the 5100 block of South Claiborne Avenue. The Tulane student and her friend reported they met two people at an Uptown business and later went to the student’s residence, police say.

A short time later, a group of males known to the two people the victims met, arrived and engaged in unwanted acts with them, according to police.

The group later left.

The victims were not able to provide descriptions of the suspects other than they do not believe they are Tulane students.

The Tulane Police Department and the New Orleans Police Department are investigating the incident.

Several reports of sexual batteries were reported near the campus in February. In those cases, the suspect would grab the buttocks of victims while riding a bike.
