Council plans investigation into paid actors; unsure if power plant will be re-examined

Entergy says it didn't know the company it contracted to ensure people were at the meeting paid for crowds

NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans City Council says they're handing off an investigation into Entergy's use of paid actors during a recent public meeting to a third-party, but won't comment on whether they'll be voting again on the issue.

Council President Jason Williams told reporters Friday he couldn't rule out whether or not the controversial issue would be taken up again, after plans for a $210 million power plant in New Orleans East were approved in March.

The City Council said it planned to bring the third-party in to conduct a transparent investigation and added that the costs would not go to ratepayers, but rather to Entergy.

Entergy says it didn't know the company it contracted to ensure people were at the meeting paid for crowds.
