NEW ORLEANS -- People who live in Venetian Isles were urged Tuesday to boil their water after a water main break dropped pressure below safe levels.
The Sewerage & Water Board said homes and businesses in the areas east of Textron Marine & Land Systems on Chef Menteur Highway might be without water while repairs are made. The water main broke during construction on a fire hydrant.
Residents in the affected area are advised not to drink, make ice, brush teeth, wash hands, shower or bath without first boiling their tap water until further notice from the S&WB.
Residents should boil water for one full minute in a clean container. The one-minute boil time begins after the water has been brought to a rolling boil.
