Covington teacher arrested, accused of smoking weed with students

29-year-old Michael Williams was booked on eight counts of contributing to a delinquency of a juvenile

Deputies say a former Covington teacher has been arrested after allegedly smoking marijuana with a group of students.

According to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, 29-year-old Michael Williams was booked on eight counts of contributing to a delinquency of a juvenile. He was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail Thursday morning.

Authorities began investigating Williams, a special education teacher at William Pitcher High School, after a concerned parent said Williams gave her son a ride in his car without permission. A second parent contacted deputies to report that Williams sent her son offensive and inappropriate text messages, the sheriff’s office says.

The investigation revealed that Williams had smoked marijuana with some students, a spokesperson for STPSO said.

An arrest warrant was issued for Williams Wednesday night. He was arrested without incident Thursday morning.
