Who's Alberto? Memorial day weekend in NOLA still in full swing

And as people get what they need for the next few days, rain or shine, many are ready to let the good times roll.

NEW ORLEANS - Charcoal, juice, watermelon, and more. Peoples' carts were full as they welcomed the three-day weekend.

The Friday before Memorial Day typically brings a crowd to grocery stores, but with now subtropical Storm Alberto looming, a lot of people seemed to have the same idea and spent their afternoon getting some extra supplies.

"Well we just thought we'd get out before the rain starts," Molly O'Keefe said. "Stuff to grill, it's covered so hopefully that'll be okay and then we got some storm supplies as well. Pretty much some bottled water and beer as far as that's concerned."

"It was getting a little hectic," Nicole Johnson said.

It's still too early to know where Alberto will make landfall, but Southeast Louisiana could see anywhere from one to ten inches of rain.

"I think it's pretty surprising to have such an eventful storm coming in May," O'Keefe said.

It's surprising but something people say they can handle.

"It's a little stressful that it's starting so soon in the season, but it is what it is so we're going to do our best and enjoy ourselves," Johnson said.

"My only concern is my flight out on Tuesday hoping the weather doesn't impact that," Erin O'Connor-Slater said.

And as people get what they need for the next few days, rain or shine, many are ready to let the good times roll.

"We're prepared for the weekend hopefully it'll be a good weekend," O'Keefe said.

"We're excited and we hope the weather doesn't get too bad and the kids have a good time. Hopefully the weather calms down and you know we just luck out," Johnson said.
