Davis gets 40 again, Pels win 5th game in last 6

Anthony Davis hit 20 of 21 free throws and 10 of 20 shots to score 40 points as the Pelicans completed a quick two-game, two-night homestand 2-0.

Anthony Davis had 40 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists to top the 40-point mark for the second time in 24 hours as the Pelicans topped Denver 125-115 for their fifth win in the last six games.

The Pelicans rallied to beat the Knicks Friday night, as part of a short 2-0 homestand before heading out for four straight on the road.

Julius Randle had 21 points and 10 boards as the two big men again were dominant.

The Pelicans win came despite some bad news on the injury front earlier in the day when the club said point guard Elfrid Payton, who had just gotten back on the court Friday night, suffered a fractured finger in the win over the Knicks. He is scheduled to see a hand surgeon next week, but it is not anticipated he will have a real quick return.
