Woman devastated as nephew killed more than a year after her two sons died

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. near the intersection of Tchoupitoulas and St. James streets.

NEW ORLEANS - A man was shot to death on Tchoupitoulas Street Tuesday afternoon, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. near the intersection of in the 1600 block of Tchoupitoulas Street.

Police said the victim was found lying on his back suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Family members identified the victim as 23-year-old Glen Curtis.

Eyewitness News spoke with Curtis' great aunt, Gilda, on the scene.

"He just liked to listen to his music and kid around with his brothers and cousins and stuff and just enjoy life," Gilda Curtis said.

She says she already lost two sons to violence in September of 2016 and again in July 2017.

"It could happen to you, just like it happened to me and now it happened to my niece, it could happen to anyone of them and they would feel the same way I feel," Gilda Curtis said.

She is begging for anyone to come forward with information about who is responsible for the shooting.

"I want them to come forward, if y'all know something, and y'all see something just tell them! Say something. Why we gotta lose all our children for no reason because nobody wants to talk?" she said.
