NEW ORLEANS – Police say one man is dead after a late night shooting in New Orleans’ Seventh Ward Tuesday.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, the shooting happened around 11:47 p.m. near St. Anthony Street and North Claiborne Avenue. Officers patrolling in the area heard gunshots and later found a man lying on the ground next to a Nissan Altima with multiple bullet holes.
Police say the man had a gunshot wound to his body. Paramedics tried to treat the man, but he died at the scene.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause of death and release the man’s name at a later time.
