Pedestrian killed after being struck by train in New Orleans

According to the New Orleans Police Department, officers responded to a traffic accident around 3:24 a.m. at Marais and Press streets.

NEW ORLEANS — Police say one person is dead after being struck by a train in New Orleans' St. Claude neighborhood early Friday morning.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, officers responded to a traffic accident around 3:24 a.m. at Marais and Press streets. At the scene, officers found a pedestrian who had been struck by the train near the intersection.

Paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The NOPD is investigating the incident as an "unclassified death."
