Man rescued from roof during two-alarm fire in Bayou St. John

According to the New Orleans Fire Department, the fire started around 12:37 a.m. in the 3300 block of Dumaine Street.

NEW ORLEANS — Two people are now in temporary housing after a two-alarm fire in the Bayou St. John neighborhood overnight.

According to the New Orleans Fire Department, the fire started around 12:37 a.m. in the 3300 block of Dumaine Street. Firefighters arriving at the scene found one resident on a roof who had escaped through a second-floor window.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but firefighters will determine if lightning may have sparked the flames.

There were no reports of injuries.
