NEW ORLEANS — Police say one man is dead after a murder in Central City Wednesday morning.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, the homicide happened in the 2900 block of Jackson Avenue outside the front steps of St. Thomas Baptist Church.
The man was found with apparent head trauma and was later pronounced dead on the scene by EMS, according to NOPD.
A man who attends the church was passing by and noticed a man in front of the church on the ground. He says he thought the man was sleeping.
"I shook him to wake him up and I saw all the blood on the porch and I called the police," the man said
According to NOPD, the victim was a man who may have been homeless.
