ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH, La. — A crash in St. John the Baptist Parish claimed the lives of two men Tuesday night.

Louisiana State Troopers say 21-year-old Tyler Gros of Thibodaux was driving east on LA 3127 in a car around 9:30 p.m. At the same time, 39-year-old Henry Coleman was driving west on LA 3127 in his car. For reasons still under investigation, Gros crossed the center line and struck Coleman’s vehicle head-on as they approached one another.

Coleman and his front seat passenger, 30-year-old Jacob Landry, sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner’s office.

Coleman’s two back seat passengers, both 40-year-old men, were injured. One of the men was taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries and the other was taken Thibodaux Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries, State Police say.

Gros suffered moderate injuries and was taken to University Medical Center.

Investigators are working to determine if Coleman and his passengers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash. Gros was wearing his seat belt during the crash and charges are possible pending the outcome of the investigation, according to Louisiana State Police.

Impairment is not a known factor in the crash. A toxicology report is pending for Coleman through the coroner’s office, Louisiana State Police say.
