NEW ORLEANS — A local chef posted on social media after he caught beads with Confederate flags on them while at the Mystic Krewe of Nyx parade Wednesday night, The New Orleans Advocate reports.

The throw was caught by Stephen Stryjewski, who is co-founder of the Link Restaurant group that includes Cochon, Herbsaint and Peche Seafood.

When he caught it in a handful of beads, he put it in his pocket and kept watching the parade, but after he posted on social media to bring attention to the “offensive” bead.

"Tighten up @mystickreweofnyx no need for hate. Y’all had a beautiful parade full of amazing women and one turd with questionable taste,” he wrote on Instagram.

Nyx Captain Julie Lea told WWL-TV the krewe does not condone or "believe that the parade is the place to have any political agenda, message or even thoughts."

"Our purpose is to bring to joy to the citizens and visitors of New Orleans with fun and love in our hearts through a beautiful parade," Lea's statement read. "Our members are aware of this strict policy. Anything less is not tolerated."

Lea said if the krewe member who threw the beads is found, she will be immediately removed from the krewe.
