4 wounded in separate shootings in New Orleans overnight

Two people were wounded after shots were fired off Interstate 10 early Monday morning.

NEW ORLEANS — Authorities say four people were wounded in three separate shootings across New Orleans overnight.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, the first shooting happened around 11 p.m. Sunday in the 8600 block of Apricot Street in the Hollygrove neighborhood. Officers arriving at the scene found a man shot multiple times. He was taken to the hospital, but his condition was not released.

Police say the second shooting happened about 30 minutes later in the 4800 block of Francis Drive in the Pines Village area of New Orleans East. Paramedics took one man, who was shot at least once, to the hospital. It is unclear if his injuries were life-threatening.

Investigators say two people were wounded after gunfire was reported at the Morrison Road exit of Interstate 10 around 1:30 a.m. Police have not released any additional details about the third shooting at this time.

Police officials said the three incidents are under investigation, all as cases of aggravated battery by shooting.

The gun violence overnight into Monday comes after two other people were hurt in shootings over the weekend.

On Friday night, a 22-year-old  man was in the 3400 block of Hamilton Street in Hollygrove, a block from the Mt. Rock Baptist Church, when he was shot several times across the body, according to initial NOPD reports.
