SLIDELL, La. — The St. Tammany Parish Coroner's Office says the death of a 3-month-old child in April has been ruled a murder.
Coroner Dr. Charles Preston said Kristian Scott died from complications from an untreated broken arm and malnutrition.
Scott's parents, 28-year-old Kevin Scott and 27-year-old Samantha Hotard, were arrested on cruelty charges in early April.
Preston's office said the couple were re-booked on second-degree murder charges following the coroner's ruling Tuesday. Both remain in the St. Tammany Parish Jail.
Last month, authorities described the infant's death as "non-accidental."
