Freeze Warning issued for entire Northshore tonight

Forecasters say sub-freezing temperatures as low as 29 degrees are expected.

NEW ORLEANS — The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a freeze warning starting Saturday for portions of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi.

The freeze warning begins at midnight and will last until 7 a.m. Saturday for parishes and counties north of Lake Pontchartrain, including St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and Washington parishes and Pearl River and Hancock counties in the WWL-TV viewing area.

Forecasters say sub-freezing temperatures as low as 29 degrees are expected.

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
