Saints sign Chase Young

Young was selected No. 2 in the 2020 NFL draft by the Washington Commanders.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Saints annouced they have signed defensive end Chase Young.

National Insider for NFL Network Ian Rapoport said Young went into free agency wanting a deal to set himself up for the future, and he wanted to play with Cam Jordan.

Adam Schefter reports that it is a one-year, fully guaranteed deal worth $13 million.

Young was selected No. 2 in the 2020 NFL draft by the Washington Commanders. He won 2020 Defensive Rookie of the Year and spent his four seasons with them before being traded at the deadline to the San Francisco 49ers.

He has 16.5 sacks in his career, but almost half of those came in his rookie year. Chase tore his ACL in 2021 and only appeared in 3 games the following season.

Last year, he matched his career high of 7.5 sacks, five of which came in nine games for Washington before the trade.
