Saints let go of quarterback one month after signing him

The Saints had a very crowded quarterback room with the drafting of quarterback Spencer Rattler.

METAIRIE, La. — The New Orleans Saints have trimmed their heavy quarterback roster Wednesday by moving from offseason signee Kellen Mond.

The drafting of Spencer Rattler along with the presence of veteran Nathan Peterman and 2023 draft pick Jake Haener, all to back up starter Derek Carr, made the move necessary.

Mond, who played college ball at Texas A&M, hasn't played in the NFL since 2021 when he threw three passes and completed two for five yards. The Saints signed him a month ago to give the team some depth in training camp and during offseason workouts, but the unexpected drafting of Rattler made the field too crowded.

Mr. Everything, Taysom Hill, is also available in a crunch and likely will still take some snaps at quarterback as he has done for the past several years.
